The ultimate diaper guide: everything you need to start using reusable diapers.

The world of reusable diapers can seem overwhelming to new parents. But with Bumbuns, you’ll be a pro in no time. Still looking for some advice to get started? This ultimate reusable diaper guide gives you a handy checklist of everything you need to do your baby, your wallet and the planet a huge favour. Let’s dig in!

The essentials

1. Reusable diapers

We start of our diaper guide with the most obvious item: reusable diapers. We recommend to start with at least 18 Bumbuns. This stash will last you about three days before having to do laundry. But you can always get a couple more for extra comfort. Thanks to our all-in-one diapers, you won’t have to worry about size. We offer two types of closures: snaps and straps. Which one you choose is up to personal preference. Can’t decide? Just get a couple of each to try them out.

2. Diaper liners

Diaper liners are an optional - but highly recommended - add-on. They ‘catch’ the poop and allow for a messless removal. They also keep your diapers looking fresh for longer by preventing stains. Ours are super soft and come in handy rolls: just tear of a piece that fits your baby’s diaper. Time to change? Simply take out the dirty liner - including the poop - and flush it. Your washing machine will thank you.

3. The right detergent

Speaking of washing machines, of course you’ll need the right detergent to effectively clean your diapers while still being soft to the sensitive skin of young kids. That’s why we created our own, specially-formulated washing powder with 3-in-1 formula. Perfect for soaking, washing and stain removal - and for your baby’s bottom!

4. Diaper pail

So you bought enough diapers to last a couple of days. But where do you store the dirty ones until washday? A lined diaper pail will do the trick just fine and will contain all yucky odours.

Changing on the go

5. Wet bag

We could stop our diaper guide here and you’d be well-equipped to use reusable diapers at home. But sooner or later, you’re going to want to explore the rest of the world together. First thing you’ll need? A wet bag. Where else are you going to store you dirty diapers on the go? Your wet bag will keep your diaper bag, stroller, car, … clean and stink free.

6. Travel changing mat

Finally, a foldable, waterproof changing mat is a handy accessory when diapering on the move. Easy to clean and easy to carry make for an easy win.
